Saturday was a fabulous day dedicated to me time!
I started the day off with what I like to call a mommy’s play date. Basically I met up with a group of fellow mom’s for a coffee outing, but get this…it was an outing without kids! Can you believe it? An adult only outing. I definitely love the frequent play dates that I do for my son, he gets to have fun and I get to socialize with other adults. But a chance to go out without a heavy diaper bag, a stroller, and a baby pulling and tugging at you every 5 seconds is a rare and exciting treat. We had a fabulous time just chit chatting and enjoying our coffee while it was still hot. As a group we decided to make this a monthly get together which I think is not only a fantastic idea, but I strongly recommend it to all mom’s. It’s true that you might spend at least half of the time talking about your little ones, swapping stories and experiences, but that’s ok. It’s a great way to recharge and even to encourage each other as we navigate this parenting world. Having a good group of friends you can bounce ideas off of and express doubts to, is a great and necessary support system to have.
After my energizing morning coffee I headed straight to the beauty salon where not only did I get my hair done, I also treated myself to a manicure and pedicure. I got to enjoy that fabulous spa chair that gives you a great back massage whilst you also get a relaxing foot treatment. I love that massage they always give you when you do your feet, or when you do your hands, or when they shampoo your hair! haha. Ok, it might sound a little nuts, but I do enjoy any and all massages I can get. Plus, I was again surrounded only by grown ups and adult conversation! Ok, full disclosure, everyone wanted to know how my little guy was doing so I did spend a good amount of time gushing about how spectacular he is. After all that pampering I felt recharged and ready to run back home to my precious little angel.
All in all it was a fantastic day dedicated just to me. To all of you stay at home moms out there, if you get a chance to have a me day please do it. It’s necessary. You will not only enjoy yourself but you will feel recharged afterwards. You will probably even find yourself rushing to get home because you miss your precious little baby! And if your me day can include time with a group of great mom friends, even better. It’s such a brilliant way to encourage each other and reassure each other that you’re doing a great job.
